Home – DMR – APRS – Members – History – Club Equipment – WPA Ham Radio FB Group
APRS transmits GPS positions, elevation, weather data, text messages and other information from handheld and mobile ham radios to other radios, digipeaters and internet gates. APRS has many capabilities, but is mostly used for mobile and handheld position reporting. Friends and loved ones can track your position during travelling to make a radio contact or for safe tracking. For hiking, a handheld radio can send out position data every 5-10 minutes (or less often to save battery life).
11/17/2023 We set up an internet aprs gate (I-Gate) that will post whatever aprs packets it hears on the internet to an aprs map such as aprs.fi or a map in aprs droid app.
